Sam Simmons - Cask of Screams
We are tearing our hair out around the office this week as my colleague Sue and I work on creating a list of cask sizes for sharing in a notebook we're making. Using several geeky text books about the history of coopering, flipping through whisky books in our library, searching some of the web's most respected websites, and reaching out to folks at the distillery, including Head Cooper Ian McDonald, we discovered the truth: there is no TRUTH.
Depending where we looked or who we asked barrels ranged from 180 to 220 litres, butts from 450-600, gordas, puncheons, hogsheads, quarter casks and more all denying us a single, consistent, agreed-upon size.
We gave up.
HELP!!! Do you have the answer to life, the universe, and everything (in litres, please)?
